Freelance web developer in Malaysia for websites and web apps

I'm Alif Asraf, a freelance full-stack web developer based in Kuala Lumpur. I build websites and web apps with React and Next.js for Malaysian SMEs and overseas teams, from discovery through launch and support. I'm available for freelance projects and full-time roles.

What I build

The list is the work I have already done, not a menu of services I have not shipped. At Merimen I maintained an enterprise insurance platform. At High End Solution Research Center I led KognAktif, the earlier education product that KinetiqMind replaces.

Business websites

A public site that explains the service, shows the work, and gives people a clear way to get in touch. The pages on this site are that kind of build: one address, real case studies, and a contact path.

Web apps and dashboards

Products with accounts, saved data, and screens people use more than once. KinetiqMind stores scores and shows progress. CertWatch keeps certificate expiry in one place. OptaFit tracks calories, menu scans, and room scans.

Internal tools

At Bloomthis I build an internal OMNI ERP in Next.js and PostgreSQL for procurement, logistics, and HR. That product is not public. The same kind of work is a focused tool for a team, not a brochure.

Shop connections

At Bloomthis I connected Shopify to internal order workflows. A public shop is a different quote from a site that only describes a service. The connection, the testing, and who owns the shop account are part of the scope.

Who I work with

Malaysian SMEs

I am based in Kuala Lumpur and can meet in the Klang Valley, or work remotely. Recent employers, Bloomthis and Merimen, are in Selangor. I do not publish a walk-in studio.

Overseas teams

I work remotely, in writing, on Malaysia time (MYT), and I overlap with other time zones. I work in English. The invoice currency is agreed on the call. I do not publish a default currency.

How a project works

  1. 01. Discovery first: goals, constraints, measurable outcomes.
  2. 02. Build in iterations with clear weekly progress.
  3. 03. Deliver polished UI with readable, scalable code.
  4. 04. Support launch, testing, and post-release improvements.

Work you can open

Each public product has its own case study. KinetiqMind is the live education product. It replaces the earlier KognAktif demo, which is no longer online.

  • KinetiqMind — A Malay-language web platform where children practise focus and coordination with camera games, and adults review the scores.
  • CertWatch — A web app for recording staff training certificates and the dates they expire.
  • Sepang Pit Wall — An in-browser F1 strategy desk and a spectator view of Sepang International Circuit.
  • Melaka Empire Defense — A browser strategy game where you defend a fort by programming cannon logic.
  • OptaFit — A fitness and nutrition web app with a calorie tracker, menu scans, and room scans.

Tech stack

React and Next.js are the default for new product work. The rest of the list is what I use when the job needs an API, a database, or a place to deploy.

  • React
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • JavaScript
  • TailwindCSS
  • Node.js
  • GraphQL
  • PostgreSQL
  • MongoDB
  • SQL
  • AWS
  • Vercel

How I price a project

I do not publish a day rate or a package menu. The quote names the pages or screens, the integrations, who writes the content, and whether support after launch is included.

Published guides put Malaysian website prices in a wide band. Those are market ranges, not my prices. The website cost guide cites them and explains what moves a quote up or down.

Freelancer or agency

Working with me

You talk to the person who writes the code. The project runs in the four steps below: discovery, weekly iterations, a polished handover, then support after launch. There is no account team in between.

Working with an agency

An agency can put a designer, a writer, and a project manager on the same job. That helps when the work includes brand, photography, or a marketing plan. It also adds people, and the quote usually reflects that. I do not publish their rates.

What to compare

Compare who you can reach after launch, whether you own the code and the domain, and whether the quote names pages, integrations, and support. A lower headline number is not the same job.

Common questions

How much does a freelance web developer cost in Malaysia?

I do not publish a rate card. Published Malaysian guides show a wide market, and the quote follows the scope. The website cost page explains what changes the number. I send a quote after a short call.

Do you work with clients outside Malaysia?

Yes. Overseas work is remote and mostly in writing, on Malaysia time, with overlap into other time zones. I confirm the invoice currency on the call.

Can you maintain an existing website?

Yes. Maintenance covers testing, bug fixes, and small changes after launch. I quote that after a look at the site. The maintenance page describes what is included.

How long does a typical project take?

I do not publish a standard duration. A short company site and a product with accounts are different jobs. The quote includes a timeline once the scope is clear.

Do you also take full-time roles?

Yes. I take freelance projects and full-time roles. The contact section on the homepage has a path for each.
